My home town, Arcadia, Michigan…..
Arcadia is a civil township in the county of Manistee in the northern lower peninsula in Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the population was 621. The unincorporated community of Arcadia is located within the township on Hwy M-22 on the shore of Lake Michigan.
The village of Arcadia was founded in 1880 and in 1882 another village was founded called Burnhamville (which is where my house was) and centered around a lumber mill and had its own post office until 1895..
Arcadia is the birthplace of Harriet Quimby, America’s first aviatrix which is memorialized by a Michigan historical marker.
For a part of me, this will always be home…….
