Pet Sitting Memorial Day Weekend
This Memorial Day weekend Nadia and I are pet sitting for two dogs & two cats. It is kind of like a little mini vacation…drive 30-40 minutes away and stay some place new or different.
Usually we stay where the 1% live in Mission Hills, KS at the home of one of my regular clients. This time we are in an upper class neighborhood nearby and it is our first time staying here.
To say I am tired this morning doesn’t quite explain it properly. We were really tired by the time we got to bed anyway and then the dogs whined to go out at 1 a.m. something and again at 5:30….ugh! Then there are the cats that like to come jump on your bed in the middle of the night….we are not cat people….definitely dog people. I tolerate them better than Nadia, she doesn’t even want them in the room so we have to shut the door at night.
Anyway, so here I sit with a Large mug of chai tea latte, watching Golden Girls and getting caught up on blog activity. The cats have disappeared (perhaps finally sleeping?) and the dogs are outside. It is nice and quiet in here….I should be sleeping now (9:09 a.m.) but my internal clock says its too late for that. I am letting Nadia sleep in though. I usually wake her by 8:00 a.m. but with the lack of sleep last night and her STILL being sick and no clue why (can’t see a neurologist until mid July) she needs her rest.
I enjoy Memorial Day weekend with all the patriotic events and goings on everywhere. I have many military veterans in my family and have the utmost respect for anyone in the military. My grandfather ran away from home, lied about his age and fought in WWI. One of my uncles was in WWII and Korean War. On my mother’s side, the rule for the boys was that my grandparents would pay for one year of college and then they had to join the military. My father was in the Army, his brother and my step-dad made the Air Force a career and all of his children joined the Air Force. Only one of my siblings (out of 11) joined and that was the Army. I attempted but was turned down because of scoliosis of the spine. I still think that was a bad decision, it to this day has never bothered me and I wish I could have served.
So, in three days we will click our heels and return home…..I must say I am looking forward to it already.
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Please take a moment and thank a Vet for their service to us and our great nation.
I have a friend who pet sits in the KC area. I can’t imagine being in different houses on a regular basis, but I bet it’s kind of cool too. Thanks for sharing at #AnythingGoes Link Party.
I don’t do it very often….few times a year for clients. Wouldn’t really like to do it more often than that since I have dogs of my own & have to get someone to watch them while I’m gone.
